OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 11, 2014--
Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ:WERN), a premier transportation and logistics
provider and award-winning military friendly employer, added a third
truck to its Operation Freedom fleet and handed the keys to Immanuel
Odongkara, a 20-year Navy veteran.
“This opportunity is like winning the lottery,” said Odongkara, a
Jacksonville, Florida, resident. “I am able to drive this beautiful
truck and represent the country and the company. I just want to do the
best I can, and I can’t wait.”
In his two short years with Werner, the native of Uganda, Africa, has
already made a name for himself. In 2013, Odongkara was named a top 10
Rookie of the Year finalist at the Great American Trucking Show. Prior
to Werner, he traveled with the military as an aircraft mechanic.
Werner developed the Operation Freedom program in conjunction with the
White House veteran campaign and introduced its first truck, Freedom 1,
in February 2013 and Freedom 2 the following May. Known as Freedom 3,
the military-themed wrapped truck will travel with Odongkara on his
regular freight routes. The truck also will be showcased at truck shows,
recruiting events and specific veteran ceremonies to bring awareness to
Werner’s industry-leading military apprenticeship program.
