OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr. 22, 2014-- Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ:WERN), a premier transportation and logistics company, recognized Earth Day Tuesday, April 22, at its global headquarters in Omaha, Neb. Steve Phillips, senior vice president of Fleet Resources, shared with the audience an update about Werner’s most recent sustainability progress and initiatives.

The event featured vehicles with alternative fuel engines, including a Werner CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) truck and trailer. Experts from several Werner departments also discussed the company’s latest green initiatives.

“We continue to strategically redefine our sustainability goals,” said Werner President and COO Derek Leathers. “As a member of the transportation industry, it is our responsibility to diligently research, test and utilize the latest technologies to reduce our carbon footprint and increase fuel efficiencies.”
