Werner’s Tim Dean Named Grand Champion at State Truck Driving Competition

OMAHA, Neb., June 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ:WERN), a premier transportation and logistics company, is pleased to announce professional driver Tim Dean as the grand champion of the 2018 Nebraska Truck Driving Championships. 

Nine professional drivers represented Werner in the competition at Grand Island, Nebraska, June 8-9. Tim Dean took first place in the Five-Axle Sleeper Berth category, and Terry Durham placed first in the Twin Trailer, earning both professional drivers a trip to the 2018 National Truck Driving Championships in Columbus, Ohio, Aug. 15-18.

Werner professional driver Larry Derr placed second in the Three-Axle, Philip DeLauder Sr. placed second in the Tanker Class and Robert White won third place in the Straight Truck Class. Rebecca Heck received the Professional Excellence Award for having the highest written test score among all the drivers, and Larry Derr received the Jerry Wessel Award for his professionalism, excellence and attitude.

This annual event offers Nebraska’s best professional drivers a chance to demonstrate knowledge, talent and skills in a competition highlighting what it takes to be a safe driver on today’s roadways. 100 drivers participated in this year’s championships in 11 classes.
