August 19, 2016

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ: WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, recently was named to U.S. Veteran Magazine’s Best of the Best Top Veteran Friendly Companies for the third year in a row.

The Best of the Best for employers list is selected annually after U.S. Veterans Magazine polls hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies on veteran outreach efforts and accessibility. Finalists are selected based on each company’s policies that support equal access, advancement and inclusion of all individuals.

“We are privileged to have many talented military men and women join our organization when they transition from active duty or who are currently serving in the National Guard and Reserves,” said Associate Vice President of Student and Government Recruiting Jim Morbach. “It is an honor to be recognized as a top company for our support of military veterans.”

As a military friendly employer, Werner has hired more than 9,300 veterans since 2011 and more than 480 veteran spouses since May 2013. Werner has pledged to hire 2,000 veterans in 2016.

Ten years ago, Werner Enterprises partnered with the Department of Labor and the Department of Veterans Affairs to start the industry’s first Professional Truck Driver Apprenticeship Program. The innovative work-based learning program allows veteran enrollees to use their GI Bill education benefits to invest in a future with Werner.
