OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 2015--
Werner
Enterprises (NASDAQ:WERN), a premier transportation and logistics
provider, is proud to announce an update on the success of its veteran
hiring campaign and introduce the new military-themed truck design that
made its debut on the fifth addition to Werner’s Operation Freedom fleet.
Werner has hired more than 5,100 veterans in the last three years,
surpassing the pledge it made in 2012 under the White House campaign
Joining Forces to hire 1,000 veterans per year for the next five years.
Werner plans to build on the campaign’s success in 2015 with its pledge
to hire 2,200 veterans and 200 veteran spouses.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with our progress in creating opportunities
for our veterans,” said President and Chief Operating Officer Derek Leathers. “From our successful hiring initiatives to our growing
Operation Freedom fleet, we remain committed to doing even better in the
future.”
Werner strives to bring awareness to its industry-leading military
apprenticeship program through its growing Operation Freedom fleet, a
military-themed truck and trailer fleet that travels on regular freight
routes in addition to being showcased at truck shows, recruiting events
and specific veteran ceremonies. Werner’s fifth Freedom truck hit the
road this month and features a new design that includes the American
flag and a military dog tag with a special message to all who serve.
