Werner Enterprises Hosted Veterans Day Ceremonies

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ: WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, honored military veterans Wednesday, Nov. 11, at locations throughout the country and hosted Veterans Day ceremonies at its global headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska, and its Indianapolis, Indiana, and Springfield, Ohio, terminals.

Werner representatives speaking at the terminal ceremonies included C.L. Werner, founder, chairman and CEO, and Derek Leathers, president and COO. Werner offered free lunch to all of its professional drivers following the Veterans Day events.

The company has made strides with such veteran initiatives as its Professional Truck Driver Apprenticeship that allows veterans to use their benefits to pay for training while receiving on-the-job instruction. Werner has hired more than 6,500 veterans since 2012 and more than 350 veteran spouses since May 2013, surpassing the pledge it made in 2012 under the White House campaign Joining Forces to hire 1,000 veterans per year for the next five years. Werner has pledged to hire 2,200 veterans and 200 veteran spouses in 2015.
